Wolfson Hillel Workshop

.

10th November 2005

Dear Maurice,

I would like to thank you so much for the Klezmer workshop and concert you led at Wolfson Hillel

Pupils, Staff and parents were most impressed with your talented band.

During the workshop, I was able to spend some time with all three sections of our school orchestra. I watched Ivor working with our string section, Steve with the guitar section and you with the wind section. You all showed great patience and skill while teaching the children their parts. In a very short time you managed to achieve something quite amazing! Most of the children were absolute beginners on their instruments yet when all three sections joined together and played along with your band, the audience were enchanted.

So many people gained so much from you in just one afternoon. Our school enjoyed an outstanding live concert and an insight into “Klezmer Music”. When I met with the orchestra children a week later, they told me that they felt honoured to have worked so closely with professional musicians and to have taken part in a concert to such a large audience. We have continued playing “Miserlou” in our orchestra rehearsals and hope to add it to our repertoire.

Please pass on our heartfelt thanks to Ivor and Steve and I look forward to sharing any future projects with you.

Yours sincerely

Jacky Ferber (Music Coordinator)
